Service Description
Duration – 5 hours 30 minutes Fitness Level – easy. Located on the mighty Fitzroy River, Rockhampton is a vibrant city, with a long and colourful history. Meeting at 8:30am, opposite the Criterion Hotel, we'll first walk historic Quay Street, before driving to the top of Mt Archer for a bird's-eye view of Rockhampton and the surrounding region. Next stop is the Dreamtime Cultural Heritage Centre, for a guided insight into indigenous history in the region. From there we'll take a peek at 1970's innovation the Barrage - a godsend for a parched town - and then look at the local Tram Museum, home of the world's only working example of the Purrey Steam Tram. After that we're onto the historic and beautiful Botanic Gardens for lunch and a walk before wrapping up with a beer at one of the local iconic pubs. Returns 2:00pm
